SEMINAR 1 (07.10.2026)
- Introduction to genetics
- Basic Concepts and nomenclature in genetics, e.g. chromosomal aberration, point mutations, allele, hemizygote.
- Introduction to dysmorphology (definition, classification of congenital defects, dysmorphic feature, dysmorphic syndrome)
EXERCISE 1 (07.10.2026)
- Genetic databases used in the diagnosis and treatment of genetic diseases. – OMIM, Orphanet, PubMed.
AT THE FIRST CLASSES -GENETICS DATABASES, STUDENTS USE THEIR ELECTRONIC DEVICES E.G. LAPTOP, TABLET. MAKE SURE YOU GET ACCESS TO THE SUM WI-FI NETWORK.

- Principles of cytogenetic nomenclature

- Analysis of human karyotypes. Methods of chromosome analysis.
SEMINAR 3 (21.10.2026)
- Numerical and structural chromosome aberrations
EXERCISE 3 (21.10.2026)
- Genetic syndromes caused by numerical and structural aberrations.
- Diseases conditioned by numerical aberrations: Down syndrome, Turner syndrome, Klinefelter syndrome - frequency of occurrence, molecular basis.
- Diseases conditioned by structural aberrations: Angelman syndrome, Prader-Willi syndrome, - frequency of occurrence, molecular basis.

- Principles of pedigree construction

- Determining the type of inheritance based on pedigree analysis

- Characterization of selected genetically determined syndromes. Phenotype-genotype correlation.
